Home Business – Go Forth and Prosper

With your own home business, you can go forth and prosper no matter what happens on the surface. Unlike a day job where they may eliminate your position, you are not ‘up a creek without a paddle’. With your own business, especially if you have chosen to follow the ‘multiple streams of income’ strategy, you can just choose a new opportunity to replace one that has been lost.

keep going forth
Particularly with the ‘affiliate marketing ‘program model you do not need to miss a beat. Everything to get started is provided to you as part of the membership. It would be good though if you had done a little research previously so that you do have some information about your new opportunity.

There is certainly no rush that would make it necessary to go into something without knowing anything about the company, principals, reputation and product. So if you haven’t so far done this, you really should run a few queries at Google.com on possible business opportunities.

Because of the way things are always changing online you should be prepared and well-informed especially about the programs/products you already have and certainly before you take action to add another business opportunity.

There are some pretty strange situations that may arise and which may impact you. You need to ‘watch’ to see something coming down before it reaches crisis proportions (especially if you have money you need to recover if the company tanks).

Be sure to read the details – the real story and not just rumors and innuendos. In almost every case it is not the program or principal who has caused the trouble. Seriously, they are usually paying as agreed and both the program and the members are doing great.

Honestly in 99.9% of the problems it is a 3rd party that is the cause of the problem. It can even be the government or bank that confiscates the funds while they ‘investigate’ their accusations (and usually nobody ever sees their money as it is spent on legal fees, court costs, etc.)

Recently a very good company has imploded and then additionally been the victim of multiple scams to ‘straighten’ the issues out for them. Really sad what bottom-feeders will do even to people already being victimized (the company and members).

So the point is don’t rush to judgement, but do pay attention and try to get out with your assets if you can, ASAP. You are not the captain in this case, so no reason for members to go down with the ship although many times there is nothing anybody can do to avoid it.

Find Another Way if You Have to but Keep Moving

What can we do when things just seem to turn against us? It definitely isn’t lay down and die and accept that we are in ruination. If we are sick we go to the doctor and try to find a cure. If we are broke we try to find more income. Sometimes that takes a while and a bit of creativity.

In the meantime though, we can’t keep sinking deeper until things change. We have to take some kind of action. If there is nothing you can do at this moment, and want to keep your good credit rating and honor your contracts with vendors, you may try to reduce expenses.

They seriously are not as ‘hard-nosed’ as you probably imagine. They really want to keep your business and appreciate that you are not just kicking them to the curb. So ask for the Loyalty department or even ask for the department where you cancel and of course don’t, but just let them talk you out of it. It may represent only $5 to $25 here and there for a few months, but it all adds up at the end of the day.

Just saying – do you need the latest, greatest television programs on your cable if you don’t think you can pay your rent? Of course you don’t. Could you take a 500 MB reduction in speed on the Internet if it saved you a few dollars? Of course you could (*if it is decent in the first place).

There is a lot to be said about perception and feelings. You know it may be after you make a bunch of phone calls in desperation you only saved a total $50 a month. That doesn’t help much with the rent but you know what? You will feel better – you will feel like you are going to work it out and $50 might pay the utility bill or something necessary. They will still get their pound of flesh, but you will feel like you are a valued customer because someone negotiated with you and treated you kindly when you were feeling like dirt.

This of course brings us to a good reason to start an online home business right now. Make your computer pay you; make your utilities and your rent pay you back. If you have a business running at home you will see how they will pay you back a percentage of what you spend for them. Check out the US Government (IRS.gov) website on small businesses and see all the expenses you might deduct if you have a business in your home. This is not even to mention how you might have a little savings account generated by your home business to get you through tough times.

Home Business – Following Directions vs. Flying Blind

While there are some things that one could do through trial and error without having directions, some you just wouldn’t. For instance baking a cake – you are likely to have a big mess without a recipe. That is because there are some technical aspects that require exact measurements. In this case it is leavening to flour to liquid that all has to be balanced perfectly.

Starting a home business is something that you might do with trial and error. However this could become very expensive and waste time if you really didn’t know what you were doing. For example you could be using some strategy that had its day back in the 1980’s and just doesn’t fly very well today. It may still work to some degree if it ever worked, but surely you would rather spend your time and money on something that is more up-to-date.

Many times people come to the table thinking that they know what to do. They may have heard something from a friend or read something in passing. However if you have joined a program that includes training, it would be a much better idea to pay attention to the training first. At least consider what a proven expert is sharing with you.

If you find that you don’t like what he is saying, for example his ideas cost additional money to implement, that’s ok. Keep reading. Keep learning everything you can about the technique. Make a note of what it is and how it works, the cost, etc. Who knows, someday you may realize it would be ok to invest a few dollars in your business and save yourself some time.

The point however is not to throw out the baby with the bathwater. Do not waste the training because you don’t feel you can afford something contained therein. Make the best use of every resource that you can. Don’t cop an attitude like ‘it figures, you have to have money to make money’ and shut the door on yourself. You may be very surprised that either within that same training you later find many ways to do more or less the same thing for less money or even no money. But you will never know that if you stop reading.

With no direction, you can flounder around indefinitely, spinning your wheels, always looking for the answer and never finding it – or worse – finding it many times and ignoring it because you never feel you know enough to actually try something and of course you feel you can’t afford to have it done for you right now. So you do nothing but waste your time.

No matter how much you believe you know, take advantage of every resource that comes across your path and make the best use of it you can for the present or future.
